Visible poverty and wealth redistribution

According to a study in which 2,591 people were solicited for petitions in affluent public spaces, including a petition for a tax on millionaires that would redistribute wealth, individuals were less likely to sign the tax petition in the presence of an actor portraying an impoverished person than in the presence of an actor portraying an affluent person, suggesting how visible poverty affects the support of wealth redistribution policies. - Read at PNAS.org
