Chronic fatigue syndrome and metabolic pathways

A targeted plasma metabolomics study of 45 people with chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) and 39 healthy individuals, 20 to 69 years of age, revealed in people with CFS a pattern of abnormalities in 20 metabolic pathways that was consistent with decreased metabolic response to environmental stress, suggesting that targeted plasma metabolomics may improve CFS diagnosis, provide actionable clinical targets for personalized care, and help clinicians monitor patient response to treatments. - Read at PNAS.org
