Impacts of urbanization on plant growth

Using satellite observations of vegetation within 32 Chinese cities, researchers report that urbanization may lead to lower overall vegetation productivity in cities compared with rural regions, but that urbanization may have a positive influence on the growth of surviving urban plants, compared with vegetation in rural regions, suggesting that the loss of vegetative coverage in urban areas may be partially offset by enhanced plant growth. - Read at PNAS.org
